Oakwood Theme Park

If you are a theme park junkie, then you must visit Oakwood Theme Park during your stay in wales where there are a variety of rides for all age groups. For the adrenalin junkies there’s the Megafobia, Speed, Hydro and The Bounce rides, whereas if you prefer something a little more sedate then why not take a ride on Treetops Coaster or hire a pedalo and go for a paddle across the lake.

If you’ve ever watched the Winter Olympics and seen the Bobsleigh and thought ‘I’d like to do that’, well now you can as the park even has its own Bobsleigh track.

St Fagan’s: National History Museum

When you take a walk around the open air displays at Fagans you will get a feel as to what life was like in Wales in years gone by as you will see exhibits from Celtic times right through to modern times.

The museum can be found in the grounds of St Fagans Castle and gardens which is a late 16th century manor house. Over the years some of the original buildings on the estate, including a school and chapel, have been restored.

In the workshops you will see demonstrations of traditional skills and will even be able to buy some of the products that are made here from the shop.

Techniquest

If you are a bit of a techno geek then this is definitely the place for you to come and visit!

Based in beautiful Cardiff Bay, there’s hours of fun to be had at Techniquest as you get the chance to learn and have fun at the same time. In the Discovery Room you will be able to see exhibitions and even have a go yourself at some of the experiments.

In the Science Theatre you can watch shows and programs showing some of the latest technology around. There is also a planetarium for you to visit where you will be able to learn about astronomy. As well as the site in Cardiff there are other sites at Wrexham, Llanberis and Bluestone.

The Welsh Mountain Zoo

A holiday would not be complete without a trip to a zoo so if you are staying in North Wales make sure that you fit in a trip to the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay. This park with its hilltop location has plenty to offer with its panoramic views of the surrounding countryside as well as an impressive range of conservation animals.

The newest arrivals at the zoo are a pair of Snow leopards as well as some Meerkats who share an enclosure with the porcupines. You’ll be able to enjoy some talks from the keepers, see the Penguin Parade, have a chimp encounter and see the Sealions being trained at Sealions Rock.

The kids will love to play in the Jungle Adventureland and the Tarzan Trail Adventure Playground as much as seeing all the animals.

King Arthur’s Labyrinth

At King Arthur’s Labyrinth you get to combine history and fun as you will experience a ride through the waterfall and deep into the Labyrinth and learn all about the myths of King Arthur and other Welsh legends.

Your boatman will tell you stories about dragons and giants and well as some tales of battles of years gone by. Once you are deep underground you can get out of your boat to explore the many tunnels and caverns.

After you have finished your underground tour there are 2 other attractions on the site, Bards Quest and the Corris Craft Centre where you will be able to see crafts being handmade. If you want to have a go first hand you can make your own greetings card, decorate your own pot and even dip your own candle.
